Eiffel Tower

In this photograph I have captured the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. This photograph was taken this last summer when I went to Europe for a school trip. I like this photograph because the whole Eiffel Tower is in the picture. However, I do not like how far away I am from the Eiffel Tower, creating too much negative space.

Since I was outside when I took this photograph and the sun was not too harsh I did not have to adjust the camera settings very much. The aperture was set at F 3.2 and the exposure speed was set at 1/1000. This allowed for the perfect amount of light into the photograph. The focus is very strong in this photograph because the Eiffel Tower is completely in focus.

I took this photograph because for one thing I was in Paris and I was at the Eiffel Tower. In order to get the complete Eiffel Tower in the photograph you had to go a ways back. However, to improve this photograph would be to not be standing so far away because the road and the bushes are too much negative space. I do although, like how the clouds and airplane marks are creating a design in the sky which takes away some of the negative space in the sky.

I also took this photograph because I most likely will not return to Paris, France and the Eiffel Tower ever again; thus, I wanted to capture this moment because for the longest time I dreamt about being in Paris, and that dream finally came true.

Stream

In this photograph I have captured a stream near a national park and castle in Blarney, Ireland. This photograph was taken this summer when I went to Europe for a school trip. I like this photograph because the trees are reflecting in the stream and I like how there are boats waiting to be used. However, I do not like how the sky is cloudy and not blue.

Since I was outside when I took this photograph and the sky was cloudy I had to adjust the camera settings. The aperture was set at F 3.2 and the exposure speed was set at 1/320. This allowed the perfect amount of light into the camera lens. The focus is strong in this photograph because everything is completely in focus.

I took this photograph because I liked how everything was set up. I liked how there was a bridge in the background, there were boats on the side, and how the trees were reflected in the stream. To improve this photograph would be to photoshop the sky blue. I also captured this photograph because I was in Ireland and I wanted to capture this moment of scenery.

Notre Dame

In this photograph I have captured the Notre Dame in Paris, France. This photograph was taken this last summer when I went to Europe for a school trip. I like how the sun is shining through were the Notre Dame is spaced out at the very top of the building. However, I do not like how the sun is then creating a glare at the bottom of the lens, which is shown at the bottom of the photograph.

Since I obviously was outside when I took this photograph and the camera was facing directly at the sun I had to adjust the camera settings. The aperture was set at F 3.2 and the exposure speed was set at 1/1000. This allowed just enough light into the lens without the photograph being completely white. Also the focus is very strong in this photograph because Notre Dame is completely in focus.

To improve this photograph would be to step back before I took the picture to get the whole Notre Dame in the picture. However, it was very crowded and I did not want peoples head in my photograph so I had to stay close. I took this photograph because it was the Notre Dame and there is so much history involving this church. Also I was in Paris, France and I wanted to capture this moment because I most likely will not return to Paris and now I will have this memory forever.

Also with the sun shining through the top of the Notre Dame gives the building a more spiritual feeling. Which is also why I captured this photograph the way I did. However, it would be nice if the sky was not so cloudy and you could see more blue in the sky.

Archway

In this photograph I have captured an archway in Anne Hathaway's Garden. This photograph was taken this summer when I went to Europe for a school trip. I like this photograph because of all the green plants that are shown. However, I do not like how much I zoomed in the archway.

Since this photograph was taken outside but in an area where trees provided shade I had to make sure the camera settings were set correctly. The aperture was set at F 3.2 and the exposure speed was set at 1/125. These settings allowed the perfect amount of light into the camera lens. The focus is very strong in this photograph because everything is in focus.

I took this photograph because I liked how the archway was made out of vines with plants growing all around it. I also liked how the archway then had a trail leading out that was too covered with plants. If I could improve this photograph I would zoom out a little when I took it so I could get more of the plants around the archway. However, everything else is perfect and this is a very natural looking photograph, which is what I love capturing.

I also captured this archway because this was in Anne Hathaway's garden in Wale, UK. If you didn't know, Anne Hathaway was William Shakespeare's wife so being here where Shakespeare once stood was absolutely amazing. I moment I definitely wanted to capture.

Santa Cruz, CA

In this photograph I have captured a beach in Santa Cruz, California. This photograph was taken this summer while I was vacationing there with my best friend and her family. In this photograph I like how the rocks and sand are contrasting one another. However, I do not like how the sky is so grey and dull.

Since I was outside, by water, and the sun was not out I did not have to adjust the camera settings very much. The aperture was set at F 8 and the exposure speed was set at 1/250. Since the sun was not shining this allowed the perfect amount of light into the camera lens. The focus is strong in this photograph because everything is in focus.

I took this photograph because I love taking pictures of beaches. I love going to the beach; therefore, I love capturing every moment that I spend at the beach. If I could improve this photograph I would try to photoshop the sky so it would be blue or at least some what more bright. Thus, if the sky was lighter it would make the photograph seem brighter and happier.

The London Eye

In this photograph I have captured The London Eye. I captured this photograph this last summer while I was in London on a school trip. I like this photograph because the "Eye" is standing out from the sky. However, I do not like how there other objects in the photograph.

Since I was outside and at a time when the sun is very harsh, I had to adjust the camera settings correctly. The aperture was set at F 8 and the exposure speed was set at 1/500. This allowed the perfect amount of light into the camera lens. The focus is strong in this photograph because the "Eye" is completely in focus.

I took this photograph because I liked how the sun was creating the "Eye" to be in shadow. Also because I was about to go on the "Eye" and wanted to capture this moment since I most likely will not return to London. If I could improve this photograph I would take a few steps back when trying to capture the "Eye" because the very top is cut out of the photograph. Also I would try to take this picture at a different angle so the building and the trees would not be in the photograph.

Jellyfish

In this photograph I have captured jellyfish swimming with one another. This photograph was taken in the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I like in this photograph how I captured a bunch of jellyfish swimming in one area of the tank. However, I do not like how blurry some of the jellyfish look because of the tank.

Since the jellyfish tank was inside a dark area I had to adjust my camera settings to let in more light because I could not use a flash. The aperture was set at F 4.8 and the exposure speed was set at 1/10. This allowed the perfect amount of light into the camera lens without causing the jellyfish to be whited out. The focus is moderate in this photograph because only some jellyfish are in focus while others are not.

To improve this photograph would be for the jellyfish to not be moving so they can all be in focus, but that cannot happen. I captured this photograph because I love all ocean animals. Further more, I really liked how all the jellyfish were in a group together with their bodies all inter tangling one another. I also liked how the jellyfish were not all one size and how some were darker because they were swimming more up to the top of the tank while the others are down closer to the light. The jellyfish are creating depth in this photograph without me the photographer doing much, which does not happen often.

St. Thomas, VI

In this photograph I have captured a beach on the island of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. This photograph was taken last year while I was vacationing with my family. What I like about this photograph is how the chairs are perfectly set up with towels on them, waiting for someone to sit in them. However, I do not like how there is a shadow in the bottom right corner of the photograph.

Since I took this photograph at a time when the sun was at its harshest time, I had to make sure the camera settings were set correctly. The aperture was set at F 7.1 and the exposure speed was set at 1/400. Beaches are very hard to photograph during the day because the sand and the reflects the sun which makes everything much brighter. The focus is very strong in this photograph because everything is in focus.

I took this photograph because I loved how the sky and water looked blue and perfect. However, the sand in this photograph is too bright. Thus, I should have either adjusted the camera settings or photoshopped the sand to not be so bright. This photograph reminds me of a picture you would see in a magazine promoting tourists to come visit the island. That is also why I like this photograph.

White Flowers

In this photograph I have captured white flowers from a tree at the Capital Building. These flowers were photoshopped to look the way they look. This is why I like this photograph because of the way I photoshopped the flowers to stand out. However, I do not like how there are dark spots in this photograph.

Since I took this photograph outside when the sun was at its harsh point I had to make sure the camera settings were set correctly. The aperture was set at F 5.6 and the exposure speed was set at 1/4000. This allowed for the perfect amount of light into the lens. The focus is very strong in this photograph because the flowers all completely in focus.

I took this photograph because I loved the flowers on this tree. I photoshopped this photograph because I wanted to see what the flowers would look like if I changed them. Some people may not like the fact that the flowers are highlighted the way that they are but some do like it. To improve this photograph would be to change the angle that I took this picture at, maybe to get closer to the flowers so the dark spots do not show.

Pond

In this photograph I have captured a pond in the meadow behind my house. I like this photograph because it is a perfect natural photograph. I also like this photograph because in a way the pond and weeds form a heart. However, I do not like how one of the weeds is poking out and showing across the water.

Since I took this photograph outside when the sun was not too bright I had to make sure the camera settings were set correctly. The aperture was set at F 6.3 and the exposure speed was set at 1/4,000. This allowed for the perfect amount of light into the camera lens. The focus is very strong in this photograph because the front part of the weeds and pond are in focus while the back part of the pond and weeds are blurred.

To improve this photograph would be to change the angle I took this picture at. I should have moved the camera lens up to where the pond just starts so you can see more of the weeds behind the pond and maybe some of the sky. I took this photograph because I have never taken a photograph of this pond before. Also because I really liked the colors of the whole scene and I like natural looking colors.

Meko the Watch Dog

In this photograph I have captured my dog Meko keeping watch on my family's backyard. Meko is my subject a lot when I am bored and want to take pictures. I like this photograph because of the angle I captured Meko's face at. However, I do not like how the sun is creating hot spots on his face.

Since I took this photograph at a harsh sunlight time of the day, the camera settings had to be altered. The aperture was set at F 5 and the exposure speed was set at 1/800. I should have fixed the settings more because too much sunlight still got into the camera lens. However, the focus in this photograph is very strong because Meko is completely in focus and the foreground and background are blurred.

Besides the harsh hot spots on Meko's face, I truly like this photograph. I like how the grass in front of Meko is blurred and the background is blurred because it is creating depth into the photograph. I also like the angle I captured Meko at because you can see his age in the white hairs in his chin and you can tell he is a watch dog. Animals are very difficult to photograph and I am lucky that both of my dog's are some what easy to photograph.

Bush Blowing in the Wind

In this photograph I have captured a big bush blowing in the wind. This photograph was taken on a very windy day in Nevada. I like this photograph because of the warm feeling and color of the bush. However, I do not like how there is a long leaf in the bottom right corner of the photograph.

Since I took this photograph during a time of day when the sun was really harsh, the camera settings had to be corrected. The aperture was set at F 5.6 and the exposure speed was set at 1/4,000. This allowed for the perfect amount of light into the lens. The focus in this photograph is very strong because the bush is completely in focus and the background is blurred.

I photoshoped this photograph to be this warm tan color; the plant was originally white and green. The sun is creating a hot spot in the left side of the bush; thus, to improve this photograph would be to take the picture at a different angle. This photograph is also not very interesting, if something else was going on the picture then it would greatly improve this photograph. This photograph was not taken for class, I took this photograph because I was bored one day and went out in my backyard looking for a subject.

Chris Steele

In this photograph I have captured my friend Chris Steele. This photograph was taken for my senior project as well. I like this photograph because of the angle his body and head are facing. However, I do not like how dark the right side of the photograph is.

I took this photograph inside with a window as my main light, which is giving Chris a natural looking glow to the left side of the photograph. Thus, I had to set the aperture at F 4.5 and exposure speed was set at 1/80. This allowed the perfect amount of light into the camera lens. The focus is very strong in this photograph because Chris is completely in focus.

I took this photograph because Chris is Brittney Sly's boy friend and I needed another boy picture for my senior project. This photograph was taken at free form, which means Chris posed however he wanted to and I just captured his photograph. To improve this photograph the right side of the background needs to be lightened up with a spot light. However, the dark does give this photograph character.

Volleyball Net

In this photograph I have captured a sand volleyball court at a park. This photograph was for my photography class. I like this photograph because of all the colors that are in the picture. However, I do not like how you can not see all of the volleyball net.

This photograph was obviously taken outside at a park but the time I took this photograph at was during the time when the sun is very harsh. Thus, I had to check all the camera settings. The aperture was set on F 6.3 and the exposure speed was set at 1/1,000. This allowed the perfect amount of light into the lens.

The focus in this photograph is very strong because the net is completely in focus since the net is the main subject and the background is blurred. I took this photograph because volleyball is my favorite sport and I have been playing since the seventh grade and joined a club the next year and played till my last year of high school. To improve this photograph would be to get up on a ladder to get all of the net into the photograph rather than only half of the net. However, I do like the angle I captured this photograph at because the angle makes the net look really long.

Wood Stack

In this photograph I have captured a pile of wood stacked up against a fence. I like how the moss that is stuck to the wood is bright green and is standing out from the wood. However, I do not like how orange the top of the wood looks. Also the angle of this photograph is boring and has too much negative space.

Since I took this photograph outside after a rain storm I did not have to adjust the camera settings very much. The aperture was set at F 13 and the exposure speed was set at 1/60. This allowed the perfect amount of light into the lens. The focus is very strong in this photograph because the wood is completely in focus.

To improve this photograph would be to take this picture at a different angle. The fence in the background is distracting the eye away from the wood. Also this photograph is photoshoped too much because the top of the wood is orange looking. I took this photograph because my family cut's down trees to heat our house in the winter; thus, I was showing how much work my family puts into cutting wood.

Peacock

In this photograph I have captured a peacock roaming his habitat. This photograph was taken at an abandoned house that many peacocks live at. I like how the peacock is so bright that the peacock is standing out from the background. However, I do not like how there is a tree behind the peacock.

Since this photograph was taken outside the camera settings had to be set correctly. The aperture was set at F 5.6 and the exposure speed was set at 1/800. This allowed the perfect amount of light into the camera lens. The focus is very strong in this photograph because the peacock is completely in focus and the background is blurred.

The placement of the peacock could be greatly improved which would then improve this photograph. The tree behind the peacock is distracting; therefore, the angle I captured the peacock should be changed so the tree is not in the background. Also this photograph is very bright and I personally think I photoshopped this photograph too much. The peacock almost looks unrealistic because of how bright the peacocks feathers are.

Pool Equipment

In this photograph I have captured pool equipment such as, a pool stick, chalk, and two balls. I took this photograph because I was going for a commercial style set up. I like how I set up this photograph, with the placement of all the object; no negative space. However, I do not like how the cover of the pool table is all wrinkled, it causes a distraction from the main objects.

Since I took this photograph inside and I had light coming from above the objects, the camera settings had to be set correctly. I set the aperture at F 5 and the exposure speed was at 1/3. This allowed the right amount of light into the lens without whiting out the whole picture. The focus is very strong in this photograph because all the objects are in focus and the background is not, which lets the eye focus on the main objects.

This photograph was taken for my family's game room because the is my pool equipment and it was a present for my father. The wrinkled pool table cover should be smoothed out which would improve this photograph tremendously. Also if I tried to photoshop the light glow that is showing on both of the balls, because it is causing a distraction. This photograph is also a little boring and taking the photograph at another angle would improve it.

Brittney Sly

In this photograph I have captured my friend Brittney Sly. This photograph was one of the pictures I used for my senior project. I like this photograph because of the angle I took this picture at. However, I do not like how there is a lot of black in this photograph, the background should be a different color.

Since I took this photograph inside my house with the window letting in natural light from the sun I had to make sure the camera settings were set correctly. I set the aperture speed at F 4.8 and exposure speed at 1/30. This allowed the perfect amount of light into the lens and the sun is giving Brittney a natural glow. The focus is very strong in this photograph because Brittney is completely in focus.

This photograph can be greatly improved in many ways. Since Brittney has dark hair I should have placed a spot light onto the background to lighten the background up. Or I should have gotten her to take off her black jacket so her purple shirt would add color to the photograph. Also I could have place a head lamp above her head to lighten her hair up.

Oakland, CA

In this photograph I have captured the middle of a shopping center in Oakland, California. I like this photograph because it was my first panoramic picture that I took. However, I do not like how the sun is creating a hot spot in the top left corner. This photograph was also an assignment for my photography class.

Since it was a cloudy day and the sun was creating weird casts I had to make sure my camera settings were set correctly. The aperture speed was at F 22 and the exposure speed was at 1/200. This photograph was still too bright; thus, I had to photoshop the picture to be darker. There is also some unneeded objects in this photograph that distract the audiences eye.

I took this photograph because I liked how cute everything was in this shopping area. Plus I love palm trees and the boat harbor is a dead give away that this was taken in California. However, like I stated before there are some unneeded objects in this photograph and without them in the picture would really improve the photograph. Also it was early morning with I took this photograph and I think if people were in the picture it would give the shopping center more character.

Park

In this photograph I have captured a calm day at the park. This photograph was part of my final for my photography class. I like how the main tree in this photograph is not straight, it gives character to the tree. However, I do not like how part of another tree is showing in the top right corner of the photograph.

I took this photograph in the morning so I would not have to worry about the harsh sun. Thus, the aperture speed was at F 6.3 and the exposure speed was at 1/200. This allowed the perfect amount of light into the lens. The focus is very strong in this photograph because everything is in focus, which adds depth.

I took this photograph because of all the different trees. I really liked the angle of main tree and how it was not perfect what so ever. Also I like all the shadows in the grass created by the trees. However, if I could improve this photograph, again I would not have the tree showing in the top right corner and since the sun is just coming up it is creating the left side to be brighter.

Alex Parker

In this photograph I have captured my friend Alex Parker. I took this photograph because I wanted to capture his personality by his earrings. I really the angle of his face that I captured in this photograph. However, I do not like how you can barely see his left eye, it would look better if both were showing.

I took this photograph under a building outside; thus, i had to make sure my settings on my camera were set right. I set the aperture at F 5.6 and the exposure speed at 1/180. This allowed the perfect amount of sun into the lens. The focus is really strong in this photograph because he is completely in focus.

I also Photoshoped his earring to glow, because it was the main subject. Also I like how the sun is adding a glow to his cheek. decided to blog about this photograph because today a year ago he died in a horrible car accident. This photograph of him describes his personality and I will always have this of him since I will no longer be able to see him.

Pine Needles

In this photograph I have captured pine needles from a pine tree in my backyard. Also this photograph reminds me of the fall. I like how close up the pine needles are in the photograph and how the background is blurred. However, I do not like how the sun is creating a hot spot in the top right corner.

Since I took this photograph at a time when the sun is really harsh I had to make sure my settings were fixed. I set the aperture at F 5.6 and the exposure speed at 1/500. This allowed the perfect amount of light into the lens. The focus in this photograph is very strong because the center of the pine needles is in focus and the background is blurred, allowing the eye to focus on the main subject.

I took this photograph because I love capturing things up close with the background blurred and I had not taken a picture of pine needles. Thus, I went out in my backyard one day and took this photograph. If I could improve this photograph I would see if I could have some how captured the pine needles at a different angle. That way there would not be that harsh hot spot in the right corner.

Logan Krupp

In this photograph I have captured my younger brother Logan. My brother is my subject a lot because he is always around and it is easy to direct him rather than a random person. I like this photograph because the light is making his face glow and is giving a calm feeling. However, I do not like how you can only see his hair line rather than his whole head.

I took this photograph last Thanksgiving when I took the photograph of my great grandmother. I used my brother to set up and get a feel for the lighting before I took the photograph of my great grandmother. Since I used the light from the sun shinning through the window I needed to make sure my settings were exactly how I wanted them on the camera. I set my aperture at F 5 and the exposure speed at 1/125.

The focus is really strong in this photograph because my brother is completely in focus. What I think can improve this photograph is if I had a spot light on the background or a hair light. Thus, my brother's hair would be completely seen and it would not look as if his head had disappeared into the background. Today is Logan's birthday that is why I chose to blog about this photograph.

Dead Flower

In this photograph I have captured a dead rose. What I like about this photograph is the color of the rose petals. I like how they are a purple color and how they still are rich with color when the flower is dead. However, what I do not like is how the sun is creating a hot spot on the bush behind the rose.

Since I took this photograph at time of day when the sun was really bright I had to make sure my settings on the camera were fixed. I set my aperture at F 4 and the exposure speed at 1/180. This allowed the perfect amount of light. The focus in this photograph is really strong, the rose is the main subject and it is completely in focus.

I took this photograph because I really liked the color of the rose petals. Also this was one of my first pictures I took with my Nikon D40 camera. What can be improved in this photograph is again the bright spot behind the rose. Also I think the angle of the rose could be more interesting if I shot it from a birds eye view.

River

In this photograph I have captured the sun shining through the trees and reflecting off the river. What I like about this photograph is how calming the whole scene looks. It almost looks godly because the sun is shining through the trees making it hard to see. However, I do not like how you can barely see part of the mountains behind the bushes and trees.

Since the sun was the shining through the trees it almost made everything look black and white because of the shadows it created. Thus, I did not have to change my setting very much on my camera. The aperture was at F 13 and the exposure speed was at 1/4,000. The exposure speed had to be very fast because I didn't want the photograph to be whited out due to the sun.

I took this photograph because I wanted to see how trees would look if I capture the shining through them with the camera directly facing the sun. The focus is very strong in this photograph because everything is in focus and your eye is directed towards the sun's reflection in the river. What I wish I could improve in this photograph is how you can barely see some of the mountains through the bushes. Also my ISO on my camera is very high which is why when you zoom in on this photograph, it will look grainy; thus, I wish I would have noticed that my ISO was that high so I could have fixed it before taking this photograph.

Bee & Flowers

In this photograph I have captured a bumble bee gathering pollen from flowers. I like this photograph because I did capture a bee gathering pollen and capturing insects is very tricky when it comes to photography. However, what I do not like about this photograph is how the bee is not in focus. Although the flowers behind the bee are in focus which is better than nothing being in focus. 

Since this photograph was taken outside and a decent hour when the sun was not too bright, I did not have to adjust my camera settings very much. Thus, my aperture was set at F 6.3 and the exposure speed was set at 1/80. This allowed the perfect amount of light. Like I stated previously the focus in this photograph should be more on the bee and it is not; thus, the focus in this photograph is not strong. 

I took this photograph because I wanted to see if I could capture an insect on a leaf or as in this case a bee on a flowers. It is hard to capture an insect because they are constantly in motion and you cannot give them direction or tell them to stop moving. What I would improve in this photograph is again the focus on the bee and the cropping of the photograph. There is too much negative space with the flowers, the photograph should be condensed allowing only so much of the flowers to be seen and have the bee be more of the main subject. 

Peace

In this photograph I have captured my peace ring and its shadow. What I like about this photograph is how the ring is glowing. The sun is adding a glow to it while also casting a shadow. However, what I do not like about this photograph is the angle I took this picture at.

Since I took this photograph at a good time of the day, when the sun was low I did not have to adjust my setting very much. My aperture was on F 11 and exposure speed was at 1/250. These settings gave the perfect amount of light which also made the ring stand out from the cement. The focus in this photograph is not very strong. The ring isn't completely in focus but the cement in front of the ring is more in focus.

I took this photograph because my assignment for my photography class was to capture a shadow. I wanted to be creative and make my own shadow instead of taking a picture of a tree, plant or statue. What I want to be improved in this photograph is the angle of the ring I captured. I want the word "peace" on the band to show more and the top of the shadow to show more.

Nevada Appeal

In this photograph I captured an old newspaper holder. What I like about this photograph is how well the colors are contrasting against each other. Also how old and rustic everything looks. However, what I do not like about this photograph is how there are some hot spots on the newspaper holder from the sun.

Since I took this photograph during a bright time of the day I had to adjust my camera settings a lot. I set my aperture on F 5.6 and exposure speed at 1/400. This allowed only so much light to go into the camera lens, but the sun was still too bright. The focus is really strong in this photograph. The newspaper holder is completely in focus and the background is blurred allowing the eye to focus only on the newspaper holder.

I took this photograph because I wanted to practice blurring out the background and keep the main subject in focus. This photograph also represents Nevada very well because thee is sagebrush, bobbed wire fence; to show farming and and old faded sign. What can be improved in this photograph is the angle I took the picture at. Some of the sagebrush is in front of the sign; thus, it shouldn't be because it is distracting.

Alyssa Fajayan

In this photograph is my best friend Alyssa Fajayan. Since she is my best friend I ask her if I can photograph her all the time. What I like about this picture is how well the light is hitting her; not too bright and not too dark. However, what I do not like about this picture is how her hair is not standing out enough from the background.

Since I took this photograph at my house, I set up my own background and made sure she was standing in front of a window. Thus, the sun added natural light so my camera settings did not need much fixing. I set my aperture on F 4.2 and my exposure speed at 1/25. This allowed the perfect amount of light and as you can see she looks natural.

The focus is really strong in this picture. Alyssa is completely in focus which makes the eye only see her. I took this photograph because for my senior project I learned how to take portrait shots; since my photography class had not taught how. I had a mentor and completely thirty-five hours of learning how to capture a portrait shot. Thus, this photograph was one of my final pictures for my project. After I took these pictures of her my friends all wanted me to take their pictures.

Sunglasses

In this photograph I have captured my reflections in sunglasses that I placed on a statue of a sun in my backyard. What I like about this photograph is the reflection. I like how the sky is a bright blue against the yellow grass. However, what I don't like about this photograph is how the sunglasses are not completely over the sun's eyes. I was trying to capture the sun with sunglasses on but the angle is a little off.

Since I was outside for this picture and the sun wasn't so strong I didn't need to fix my camera settings very much. I did set my aperture on F 16 and the exposure speed at 1/60. This allowed the perfect amount of light into the lens which also made the brass in the statue stand out very well. The focus is also very strong in this picture, the sun is completely in focus, the sunglasses, and the reflection of myself in the sunglasses is very strong.

What can be improved in this photograph is the angle I took it at. I should have moved over more or placed the sunglasses in a better way. Also you can't see the whole statue of the sun; thus, I should have stepped back or not zoomed in so much. I took this picture because my assignment for my photograph class was reflections and I wan't to try out something different.

Granny

I took this photograph of my Great Grandma on Thanksgiving of last year. What I really like about this photograph of her is how her face is slightly lit up with light. I also like how the picture is simple but captures how beautiful she is. What I don't like about this photograph is how the chair that she is siting on is showing.

I took this photograph at my house and in order to do that I had to set up a backdrop and I placed the chair in front of a big window in my house to allow natural light in. I set my aperture on F 5 and the exposure speed at 1/200. These setting allowed only so much of light to come into the lens plus having the window open added the perfect combination of light. The focus on this picture is really well; she is completely in focus.

I took this photograph because I wanted to participate in my school's reflections contest. The topic was "Beauty is.." therefore, I took this photograph of my Great Grandma because she was 89 years old and she still has her natural beauty. This photograph means a lot to my family because two weeks later she passed away. However, this picture took first place in the reflections contest, it was then sent to state where I also received first place and then it was sent to nationals where it received 3rd place.

Pink Flowers

In this photograph I captured flowers from a cherry tree during spring time. What I like about this picture is how bright, and colorful the flowers are. However, what I don't like about this picture is the placement of the flowers. I don't like how there is a lot of negative space in the bottom right corner of the photograph. 

Before I took this picture I made sure all my settings were how I wanted them to be. Since the sun was at it's highest point when I took this photograph I had to make sure I didn't have my settings to allow a lot of light into the lens. I set my exposure at F 5.6 and my shutter speed at 1/640. The focus is  very strong in this photograph because all the flowers are in focus instead of just the first couple of flowers.

I took this picture because my friends and I happened to be taking pictures for our graduation party at our capital building. I saw this cherry tree and loved how pink the flowers were. I also photoshopped this photograph so the flowers are not exactly that pink. What I think can be improved in this photograph is the angle I captured the flowers in. 

Waterfall

In this photograph I have captured a waterfall from my home town. This waterfall is unique because it isn't up high in the mountains like you usually would find a waterfall. The one thing that I really like about this photograph is the angle that I captured the waterfall at. However, the thing I don't like about this photograph is the time of the year I took it at; the trees are dead because it was still cold out. 

Before I climbed up to take this picture I made sure my settings were how I wanted them. I set my aperture on F 22 and my exposure speed at 1/60. On this day the sun was really bright because of the time of day I went out; therefore, the water looks really dark because I didn't allow a lot of sun into the lens. It was also a really cloudy day; thus, I created my own sky by using the gradient tool on photoshop. 

I took this photograph because it is a major spot in my home town. People go up there to take pictures, walk their dogs, go on hikes or even go up there with someone special to share the scenery with. A couple years back there was a huge fire that some teenagers started up at the top of the waterfall that really destroyed my town's mountain range and a lot of homes. That fire brought our community together  and since I am not going to school in my home town I wanted to capture a special place to take with me wherever I went. 

Rain Drops on a Leaf

 

In this photograph I have captured rain drops on a rosebush leaf. I was told by my photography teacher that the best time to take pictures is before, during, and after a rain storm because of the lighting the clouds create. The one thing that I like about this picture is how well the leaf and the first rain drop are in focus while the background is blurred. However, I don't like how the rain drop looks frozen or crystalized by the reflection of the clouds. 

Before I took this photograph I made sure all my settings were how I wanted them. First I set my aperture on  F 11, then I set my exposure speed at 1/60 to let in just the right amount of light into the camera. Like I stated before my focus is exactly on the main subject. The leaf and the rain drop are in complete focus allowing the eye of the viewer to look at only it; also the colors in this photograph are well balanced.

I took this photograph because I wanted to experiment with rain drops. I had seen photographers capture rain drops on leaves and I always thought they were great photographs. Therefore, I tried to capture a rain drop on a leaf and accomplished my goal. This is one photograph that I haven't had to photoshop because the lighting was perfect and the colors were exactly how I wanted them to be.

Grizz and his football

In this photograph I have captured my brother's dog, Grizz laying in the grass with his football. One thing that really stands out to me in this photograph is all the colors. I like how the grass, fur, and ball all stand out from one another; creating contrast. What I don't like about this photograph is the placement and cropping of the dog. The end of the tail and part of the back foot are cut off, when they should be completely visible. 

Before I took this picture I made sure that all my settings were right. Therefore, my aperture setting was at F 6.3 and the exposure was set at 1/50. These settings allowed only so much of the sun to be let into the camera. I also made sure that the subject was in focus before taking the picture because having the subject not in focus is not good photography skills. 

Certain area's of this photograph can be changed or improved to make it a better picture by changing the placement, and the focus. By improving the placement and the angle I took the picture of the dog would allow its tail and foot to show. Then by changing the focus to only be focused on the dog would allow the background to be blurry giving the dog more attention. I took this picture because I like capturing moments when they are occurring to remember not just the big thing's in life but also the small thing's.
